Voting by mail

Absentee ballots are mailed only to voters who have applied for one (the absentee list). Being registered does not by itself mean a ballot will be mailed to you. If you are not on the absentee list, you can apply for an absentee ballot by noon on Monday, November 2, or vote at your polling place on Election Day.

Before you return your ballot, sign the affirmation on the return envelope and write your birth year where indicated. The person the ballot was issued to must be the one who signs.

Returning your ballot

Your ballot must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day at the County Elections Office or a polling place. A postmark does not count. If you are mailing your ballot, mail it early.

Where to drop off your ballot

Drop off your ballot at the County Elections Office, 316 N Park Ave, Helena, or call 406-447-8339 for Election Day drop-off locations.
