Meet John Looney

John J. Looney Sr. is a Helena business owner, Veteran, and former law enforcement officer running for Montana House District 81.

Montana roots

John grew up in Babb, on the Highline, where he learned the independent spirit and hard work that define our state.

Service

John enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1993. After his military service, he spent seven years serving Lewis and Clark County, first in detention with the Sheriff's Office and then as a clerk in the Justice Court.

Business

After seeing Montana's courts from the inside, John went into the private sector and built Bad Boy Bail Bonds into a statewide Montana business with locations across the state. He serves as President of the Montana Bail Agents Association (MTBAA), where he works on the rules and standards that govern his profession.

John's work puts him in Montana courtrooms every week. He sees where the system protects victims and defendants alike, and where it fails them. That experience is why judicial reform is at the top of his agenda.

Community

John serves on the Lewis and Clark County Citizens Advisory Council, working with neighbors to advise county leadership on local issues.

Family

John and his wife, Farrah, are raising six children, ages 8 to 26, in Helena, and are proud grandparents. The Looneys homeschool their children and are strong advocates for parents' right to choose how their kids are educated.

Why he's running

As a longtime Helena resident and business owner, John understands the pressures on Montana families, from rising property taxes to housing costs to education choices. He's running for House District 81 to bring that real-world experience to the Legislature.
